I’m so excited to follow kayte‘s lead!
I, karinajean, pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of “new” manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 4 months. I pledge that i shall refashion, renovate, recycle preloved items for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract. I pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovoated, recylcled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, so that others may share the joy that thy thriftyness brings!
Signed KARINAJEAN.

- shoes
I’m so excited to not have any excuse *not* to make really cool things. I’ve been getting by on very little in the new clothing arena for a long long time, but not buying anything for (at least) 4 months will force me to really work on my spring wardrobe. my goals are to do more repurposing of clothes and fabric, and to develop more fully my own sense of style. stay tuned! sign up, while you still can! and expect to see lots of cross posting of things I actually make!
Me too!
I’m not playing with my blog these days, but I’m in.
By the way, does a suit (I do need one and I did look at the thrift store) count in the work-related exemption or do I need to use a pass for that?
I think that if you’ve looked for a suit at a thrift store then you can probably buy it without using the card. but then, I’m thinking the same thing about new bathing suits, so who knows?
Actually, not buying new except for shoes and underwear is my basic strategy when it comes to clothing… most of the time, i can find what I’m looking for within three trips to the thrift store, at a higher quality and a lower price than a similar item I might buy new.
As far as making/reconditioning goes, i don’t often venture into that sphere, but I did break out my sewing skills for my mardi gras costume (the nature and content of which shall remain classified until February 17)
yayâ„! we are going to have lots of fun!
jesse – outside of buying new tshirts, I haven’t bought anything new for ages! but on the other hand, I haven’t really replaced any of my old clothes so I’m anticipating a real shock when all of my clothes suddenly fall apart. hopefully wardrobe refashion will keep me honest and cause me to make some stuff before I’m all chilly and nekkid!
On the make not buy front… I’ve been maintaining my commitment to making my own bread, with an exception of a short (and, in my opinion, anyway) extremely understandable lapse after I broke my ankle. It’s been long enough that I don’t think I’ll ever get another supermarket loaf of bread again!
